If you have a broken database, or one that is alarmingly long in the tooth that you think may soon fail, then why not contact us for some free advice? We may be able to solve your problems and provide a far better database as part of the solution.
The solution to an ailing database need not be drastic. Perhaps it can be moved to another computer, perhaps there is an upgrade that preserves your precious data, and also the software - the front-end - that accesses it. Sometimes with obscure and old systems, more drastic action needs to be taken.
The approach we would take to overcome this problem is dependent upon the circumstances. We might:
1. Databases will become more pervasive. We will access them from smaller, lighter computers (probably our mobile phones).
2. The database technology will be web-based and run in a browser (like any normal web site).
3. Mobile phone display technology will be available that responds to and relies on gestures by the user. This will make the most of what will inevitably be a small mobile phone screen
4. Personal freedom will increase as we are able to work on databases anywhere, not just the traditional work place.
